2 Timothy 1:6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

Paul tells Timothy I can only remind you to fan into flames the gifts you have received. In other words, I can do no more for you than bring it to your remembrance. Many aspects of self development are not just motivated from external sources, personal internal motivation is required.

External prompts are only intended to trigger these internal responses and subsequent action. There are many things that cannot be done for you, one can only be reminded of them because it’s a responsibility that can only be executed by one person, with impacts first on themselves, then an extension to others.
