DAY 357 OF 365 IN 2021

GENUINE PEOPLE
Luke 1:58 Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her great mercy, and they rejoiced with her.
As we read about the birth of John the Baptist, scripture points us in the direction of Elizabeth’s neighbours and relatives. These came around after John’s birth and ‘rejoiced with her’, celebrating the goodness of the Lord towards her.
In their rejoicing, anyone in attendance would be keen to search their hearts for ‘genuine rejoicing’. Elizabeth would be happy to know those who were truly happy for her and those who joined in the masses just for the sake of it. We might not like the tone of it, but not everyone is genuinely interested in your story, however grande it actually is.
Some will show interest because of what they stand to gain from it, some because they have been coerced to and even other because it presents an opportunity to find some faults.
In our search then for the good things in life, something we should pray for is’ to find are genuine people’ – those people who will come through for you because you matter to them, those who will rejoice with you from a genuine place in their hearts. Those who will stay consistent in their values, personalities and attitudes while by your side.
Such genuine people are indeed rare, like fine precious gems. Beloved, Pray to find them early in your journey, and when you do, hold on to them for they will add real value to you.
