DAY 351 OF 365 IN 2021

Matthew 1:1 An account of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham:

Today, lets dive straight to the business end. What we read in the Gospel text (Matthew 1)is a long list of names, a real mixed bag we could say.

Names known and unknown, those with long histories and those with none at all. Those society celebrated and those whom it chastised. Those who were deemed honourable and those who were deemed unworthy of honour. A list of men and women who left different marks in their time.

Yet, one caption encapsulates every name on the list ‘The genealogy of Jesus’.

One should not take a stance that greatness or honour is attributable only to individuals with specific skill sets, belonging with specific families and with specific achievements. Not everyone listed in the genealogy of were all people of repute. It was a mixed bag of through whose bloodline the saviour was birthed.

Thus, as we have also been baptised into Christ, we have become members of his household and share the same blood line as he. In that regard, all that He is, so are we. We are simply made for greatness.
