DAY 306 0F 365 IN 2021

Matthew 25:37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungry, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

In the song ‘one of us’, a repeating verse comes to mind after I read the content of the Gospel text:

“What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Tryin’ to make his way home?”

The Gospel today made me think about this question ‘what does God look like?’ or in other words, what would it take for us to see God in another?

It is interesting to perceive that the audience of Jesus were both quite surprised to be informed that they had or not, ministered to God. They probably were expecting the service to be rendered to a mountain shattering, earth shaking or globe spinning kind of presence. But Jesus tells them ‘it is seeing me in one another’.

Beloved, if God had a face, it would be that of the person next to you so don’t look too far away when extending a hand to those closest for as you do so, you also touch the heart of God.
