DAY 304 OF 365 IN 2021

DON’T STOP THIS CLOSE TO THE END
Mark 12:34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.
One of the greatest potential threats that can hold any person back from achieving all they are able to is the statement: ‘I have arrived’. In driving a vehicle, once a person gets to their destination, engines are turned off and feet taken away from the foot pedals hence there is no control over the car. At that time, a person’s mind is often not as focused as when the vehicle was in motion.
Jesus in talking to the scribe used a rather unique set of words ‘you are not far from the Kingdom of God’: As though he wanted to let this man know that he could not afford to rest on his oars yet because he had not arrived. Those very words which suggested that there was still a bit more ground to cover should be the catalyst which sustains our full concentration on the journey ahead and not cause us to lose our way.
Our actions and decisions that seem to show our high achievements should not cause us to get lazy, stop working and rescind ourselves to some corner grinning from ear to ear. My dear, no matter how high we go, we can still go further because we exist in a world with infinite possibilities to become better individuals, family people, better professionals and even more importantly, better believers who love God with our all.
One thing is true, just be ause we know where we are going does not mean we will arrive. However, the fact that we are not far from our intended destinations also suggests that the hurdles may get higher and the fires, hotter. Mountains may appear steeper and the valleys, evendeeper. However, if we keep our eyes on the end goal and not allow what stands before us to dissuade us from marching forward, we will definitely attain that which we seek.
Remember # if we keep at it, we can always become better versions of ourselves and while we may not be far, we aren’t there yet.
