HE LOVES YOU TOO MUCH!

HE LOVES YOU TOO MUCH

Matthew 25:15 To one he gave five talents, to another two talents, and to another one talent—each according to his own ability. And he went on his journey.

While splitting things up equally seems to be the best way to avoid any conflict, growing up, we often encountered instances where the ration of division was according to age. Therefore, either the youngest or oldest got the biggest portion. In the distribution of talents read in today’s Gospel however, the master utilised an alternative strategy : ‘he gave the talents according to each man’s ability’.

Hence, we ended up with the ratio of division 5 : 2 : 1. On this basis, the last servant would clearly have been the least happy since he receive the smallest portion. This would be the case until he comes to understand the heart of the master :’I gave according to your ability’.

Sometimes we see people operating with particular gifts and talents, people working in certain dimensions of operation and we are in awe. Even sometimes, we get greedy. We begin to desire what others have, possess what skills they have and wish that we would become as they are. However, we forget one thing ‘ they operate at those levels and capacity because they have developed the fortitude to sustain this’.

If God were to thrust you unto the same stage, you would likely be swallowed up and engulfed by the requirements of that platform. That may be why you may seem to have received the shorter end of the stick. Beloved, God is very interested in your preservation and your desire to possess ‘somebody’s greatness’ is not enough reason for him to endow you with things that will do you no good. He loves you too much.
