DAY 123 OF 365 IN 2021
John 14:13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Christ is the express representation of God’s image, he is the perfect reflection of the father (Col 1:15). Therefore, in telling the Apostles that ‘whatever you ask in my name, I will do that the father may be glorified’, he hinted that the objective behind the answering of their prayers was not just because He was able to do, but because the father would be glorified by the son in this manner.
We then who are coheirs, sharing in the inheritance of the son, also ought to bring glory to the father. Saint Paul said it clearly ‘all that you do, do it to the glory of God’, and this included a list of the pretty regular and ordinary day to day activities such as food and drink.
Beloved, it is very easy to lose sight of the objective behind our actions, of who or what should take centre stage in our daily dealings. We may end up putting ourselves first, but then we increase as God decreases. John the Baptist presented the right order: ‘God must increase and we must decrease’ because whenever we fight God to step into the limelight, we push Him to the periphery.
