WHO DO YOU POINT TO?

DAY 97 OF 365 IN 2021

Acts 3:16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

When given a platform, one is often offered a criteria or portfolio of content which can be delivered from its stage. Much like how there is a script to follow when playing a part in a movie or series.

It would have been very easy and the opportunity ideal for Peter and John to bask in the glory on offer, even if it was just for a brief moment. Besides, what the people saw were two men who in a very strange way, had facilitated the healing of a lame known to them. However, while the people were in awe, looking on intently at Peter and John, both of them realised that now was the time to redirect the attention of their audience.

It does seem a bit of a hustle why we have to point to Jesus. Why do we have to be signs posts and not the real centres of attention? Besides, aren’t we those actually in the spotlight? Beloved, any consideration of such thoughts should readily bring us to the words of Peter ‘His name, through faith in His name has made this man strong’. In effect, the platform was available so the glory would be unto God.

It was therefore established, ‘apart from Him, we can do nothing’ and so we ought to point to Him as the source and fountain of all things. Bear in mind: Christ is the message, we are only signposts.
