DAY 60 OF 365 IN 2021
Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you
Purchasing balloons at Christmas was always an interesting task because unlike now where one can walk into the supermarket and choose the size of balloons they wanted, then, it was a bit like a scratch card lottery. You picked a picture with a number behind it and that number determine your balloon size. I clearly remember that on the board of 100 balloons, number 33 was the biggest, but it was sandwiched between the two smallest ones.
Nonetheless, those who got the small balloons seemed to know that they could blow them up a lot bigger than they looked. The text today thus presented a very unique Dimension to giving, specifically when we give ourselves away to God because He gives Himself back.
It begins with a good measure, an mount of Him that our perception sees as appropriate and possible to contain. A good measure, such that in spite of His majesty and excellence, we can still relate with Him. Then is the pressing down; here the filling shifts the focus to God. He who knows our vessels best, no longer perceives it as we do, but as what its potential is- for He is clearly aware of the capacity and room within. As the original manufacturer, he knows his product through and through.
After the pressing down, there is a shaking together. An intentional agitation to expel any bubbles of ‘you’ left, any pockets of air that is unfilled is shaken out to ensure that God has filled every space with Himself. For when there are no more bubbles of yourself remaining, then there is the “running over”. This is where the inner man becomes the outward expression.
God becomes the outward adornment and raiment He becomes the garment. He become the visible expression of an extraordinary invisible transformation. So good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, tells the journey of a man launched deeper into God, and has received Him.
The price for all of God, is all of you
