DAY 49 OF 365 IN 2021
Deuteronomy 30:16 If you obey the commandments of the LORD your God that I command you today, by loving the LORD your God, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his rules, then you shall live and multiply, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to take possession of it.
Purchasing a piece of land or real estate does not just end with the physical exchange of cash and keys, there are significant pieces of documentation that have to be vetted and verified legally to ensure the successful transfer of the property. Therefore, if you were to enter any land to stake your claim, you could be kicked out for you remain nothing more than a squatter until you possess legal evidence to prove otherwise.
Ignoring this dimension, many have relaxed upon entering a land and by so doing, have ended up losing out on what was intended to be a possession. Instead, it became a short point of respite.
Israel had to be reminded of what was happening: they were not just entering a land, they were entering to take possession of it [To exert dominion and to occupy it]! Don’t take this to mean a direct declaration of war and an immediate start to knock heads together and rise to the top because it isn’t as literal as that.
A land could represent more than a portion of earth: it could make reference to a territory, as in a relationship, or even the work environment. ‘Entering to take possession’ is therefore to go in and to be impactful: to be a difference, to become a key part, and to be purposeful! Beloved, it is not enough that you have entered the land you’re on now, begin to possess it.
