DAY 8 OF 365 IN 2021

Luke 5:12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

There isn’t a debate about the ability of GOD! That truth, is not even up for argument because He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or imagine. Thus, there is no limit to the magnitude of request that can be brought to his attention or laid at His feet. Besides, with God, nothing is impossible.

The the man with leprosy, about whom we read today, however engaged with another dimension of God. Not just His ability, but first ‘His will’. This man clearly had his own plan and will – ‘he wanted to be well and healed’. Yet, since He was unaware of what the heart of God towards his situation was, He chose to surrender both his will and plan to God.

It feels that by doing this he might have wondered: ‘what if He says No?
I Know He is able, but what if He isn’t willing?’ That fear and concern that God will veto and overrule the plans we have for ourselves is what fills many of us with dread bringing Him anywhere close to those plans.

With these intentions, we do our own thing and present them to God for His seal of approval. We forget the will and come running to the ability. The two, although distinct, are not dissonant- they work in harmony. So when next you want to tap into the abilities of God, check if you are in alignment with His will.
