DAY 5 OF 365 IN 2021

Mark 6:38 He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.
Over the Christmas period, some of us had the rare opportunity of working alongside the chief executive of our hospital. Catching him during one of the lunch breaks, I asked him if he preferred the clinical environment or academia? His answer was “both”. However, he was quick to point out that ‘you should at “least try” both and find out which you prefer.
In the wilderness with limited assess to resources, while the disciples were contemplating going to buy food worth over half a years wages for the crowd, Jesus tells them “Go and see”. In other words, first, go and check what you have then let’s move with that information. Without first knowing what they had within the camp, they were already looking outside.
Beloved, sometimes, we give up without giving things a try. Without assessing the resources at our disposal: the people, the skills, the connections amongst others, we close off the doors to some of the opportunities which come our way and the chance to make an impact. When we look outside first, we usually tend to see the magnitude of a situation but fail to see the capacity within. By looking inside, however, we see the potential available.
So before you look without, make sure you have looked within for greater is He who is in us than in he that is in the world.
