ARE YOU READY?

Wednesday: September 2, 2020

1 Corinthians 3:2 I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready,

There is a body of evidence to support the proposition that new born babies should be breastfed for the first six months from birth. The introduction of solid food is recommended after this period because in simple terms, the body of the infant is not ready to handle solid food.

In the same vain, God is a God of systems and a God of process. As such, he does not give to His children the things they are not prepared to receive. This is because He is aware of the impact of these: whatever one is not ready to hold, is lost or can destroy the recipient. We could say a car in the hands of a six year old is more likely to be only a few metres from an accident, compared to the same in the hands of an adult with a licence.

My dear, there are no side steps, whatever you are not ready for, should not be in your hands. It might seem unfair hence, you may be tempted to force the hand of God or even work around him to attain that which you desire. Regardless, the outcome will be the very same: you are less likely to hold on to it. Whether it is wealth, a job, or a relationship when you do not have the required knowhow to manage them, they slip right out of your hands.

So don’t be in a hurry to get your hands on just anything you desire. You ought to consider if you have the resources to hold on to it- whether knowledge or personnel, in-house or outsourced; because whatever it is, if you’re not ready for it, you won’t know how to hold on to it.
