Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
On the normal scheme of things, it takes the wise and the learned to
gain understanding into matters that confound others. This group of people are seen as key players in the knowledge arena. However , we see something unusual for they appear to have been excluded from knowing about or understanding the mysteries about which Jesus taught. As I looked at the text closely today, this was laid on my heart:
‘The wise and the learned are also proud; they are haughty and think themselves head and shoulders above everybody else while walking in their presumed ‘perfected intellect and knowledge’. Babes or the simple minded on the other hand, may not have an existing body of complete knowledge, but they are teachable.
Beloved, teachability is a trait that distinguishes people apart: it places those who have it in a better place than those who are unwilling to learn. Those who are not ready to learn, relearn and unlearn place themselves perilously close to stagnation. So my dear, be teachable for mysteries are revealed to the teachable.
