CHANGE YOUR REPORT

Sunday: March 15, 2020

John 4:42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

Sometimes, we feel we get the short end of the stick when our teachers in school tell us that ‘We give you a fraction of the knowledge, it is your job to find the remainder. It felt as though they left us to fend for ourselves a lot more than we might have wanted. But the Samaritans in today’s Gospel appear to be students who would have made the most of this system.

Upon hearing the testimony if the woman at the well, they had other opportunities to hear Jesus speak and from that, their mind was made up. A spark was ignited by her words, but they sought more to set that spark ablaze. So much that they dared to say ‘we no longer attribute our belief to you- we have forged it ourselves.

That should be our goal. So that our faith is not founded and grounded solely on the reported experience of others, but a solid and firm personal experience. We need to change our reports from the third-person account, to a first-person narrative. From ‘they said’ to ‘I know because I have encountered’. Beloved, let’s reach out for more and not just settle for what others know. Let’s find out for ourselves.

Remember# Taste and see that the Lord is good.
