1 Corinthians 1:13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?
In today’s text, Paul questions the division that run deep within the church, eventually asking if ‘Christ was divided?’ While the answer to this is an obvious NO, Christ is the source from whom all things emerge. As the sustainer of all things by the word of His mouth, he remains the epicentre and pivot about which all things should revolve.
However, because He has been left outside the circle in which he ought to be the centre, things fall apart. Beloved, until God stands in the centre, until He becomes visible again in our world, many problems will remain unsolved. Because God, the answer to all things, has been left out of the solution finding process.
Life becomes a dark and mysterious adventure without the light of faith, thus, true conversion has everything to do with giving God His first place in our lives and realising that is where He belongs. He is a jealous God so does not relish being placed after anything or anyone else. So simply, although not a command, this is a suggestion: give Him His first place.
