Reference: 1 Samuel 1:1-8
1 Samuel 1:8 Finally her husband Elkanah said to her, “Hannah, why do you weep and not eat? Why are you so sad? Am I not better to you than ten sons?”
Elkanah’s words today may have been spoken in a desperate bid to comfort Hannah, his wife, but upon a closer look we can see a suggestion of putting a square peg in a round hole: a husband in the role of a son. And that was not acceptable to Hannah thus she kept on praying for a son.
To this end, the words ‘there is no life without purpose’ returns to the spotlight because however good a husband Elkanah’s may have been, he was not a son to Hannah. My dear, this is a crucial lesson because to each one of us, a specific task has been given. A task which has been assigned to no other person hence, has to be executed by us- that is the reason for our presence at this time on earth.
Therefore, your roots, your location, your position, your conversations and actions, whatever outcome that have resulted from this combination have been possible because it’s you. Sweetheart, whether grande or small, there is an assignment here on earth that is yours to do. So again, there is no life created by God that has no purpose – it may only be that this purpose awaits discovery and clarification, but it is never absent.
Bear this in mind: ‘Without God, life has no purpose, and without purpose, life has no meaning. Without meaning, life has no significance or hope'(Rick Warren).
