Luke 17:10 So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.”

On multiple occasions, expectation and the reality of issues do not turn out the same way. Likewise,
What we should say and what we say are very different,
What we should do and what we actually do vary, and
What we should think and what we really think are worlds apart.
So as I wondered what factors could be contributing to this, a list of conflicting scenarios came to mind.

Responsibility and personal opinion are sometimes not in agreement.
Individual desires and goals are at odds with the expectations of others.
Wants and needs stand at opposite poles.
In all these instances, doing what should be done becomes harder and the easier alternative is to just go with the flow or do what everybody wishes.

Consequently, without even realising, we end up thinking, doing and saying everything else but that which we actually should. We ignore what ‘should’ in favour of what ‘can be’- we come to a compromise. In some situations, a compromise may seem to be the answer but in the long term, one realises that returning to an original plan after a compromise is even harder.

So in your current situation, considering existing factors and gazing into the mirror of the Word of God, what should your response be?
