Reference text: Luke 4:31-37
Luke 4:34 Go away! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are-the Holy One of God!”
When anyone makes a claim that they know who someone is, there is often a request to prove it followed by subsequent questions such as ‘how do you know me? From where do you know me? How long have you known me? I just imagined what answers we would be offering if any of the questions listed was asked us by God.
I even wondered if we can each beat our chest and say to God’ I know who you are!’ We could readily say ‘We know Him’, but to ‘know who He’ is goes beyond what we see in the Gospel. Those words mean more than knowledge of a name and a single title and rather leans towards a more closeup and indepth knowing of the person of Jesus.
Sweetheart,
to know who He is does not and will not come by accident or coincidence, but through an intentional desire and conscious effort.
However, when we gain this knowledge, we will come to appreciate exactly why such effort is required because
the fruits of knowing who God is, far exceeded the efforts expended in gaining that knowledge.
