Reference number: Luke 17:26-37
Luke 17:28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built
Today, the long list given of the things done by the people in the days of Lot and Noah, are the very same actions that also prevail in our day: eating, drinking, marrying, buying and selling, as well as planting and building. Hence, it is important to ascertain why Jesus appears to present them in a light that makes them seem less important.
There isn’t anything wrong with those actions outright because they form part of the fabric of our existence.
However, these actions when taken to the extreme, can replace some others and cause us to lose focus. The list provided is not exhaustive, since some very important things are missing: actions like they worshipped, they praised and they gave thanks, were nowhere to be found.
When an entire generation loses sight of the things that actually matter, alternatives are presented to them. Because the concept of true worship and fellowship with God was not high up on their agenda, other things took their place and those things were proven to be temporary and fleeting.
Beloved, all the things we seek here on earth are good, but the best acquisition we can aim for is an intimate relationship with God because that, will stand the test of time.
Remember # amongst all that we seek, there is one that ought to really matter-God.
