SOME THINGS ARE FREE

Reference text: 1 Corinthians 2:10b-16

1 Corinthians 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

These days, we are surrounded by innumerable businesses, supermarkets and shops, each offering loads of promotions and discounts on their products in their attempt to gain more customers. Some even go as far as offering freebies. However, as much as there are things up for grabs, not everyone knows about them. One can therefore safely infer that something is never really free until one has knowledge of this fact.

The salvation already won for us, the provision made ready, the protection already given, the peace, joy & love which God has showered in abundance; are rendered almost non-functional if the believer is unaware of their existence. All the gifts considered good and perfect, have been made available to the believer at no cost. The message version of Isaiah 55:1 couldn’t have painted this any clearer : “Hey there! All who are thirsty, come to the water! Are you penniless? Come anyway—buy and eat! Come, buy your drinks, buy wine and milk. Buy without money—everything’s free!

Beloved, when one is not aware of the things which are freely given, they end up paying a big prize for them. Likewise, when one is ignorant of the things that are freely available to them, they could end up missing out on of a lot of things because they believe that payment is required. That is what the Spirit of God has come to remind all of us of: those things which freely belong to us as children of our father in Heaven.

Remember # don’t miss out on the freebies due you as a child of God because you didn’t know of them.
