SAFE IN GOD’S HANDS

Reference text: Revelation 11:19,12:1-6,10

Revelation 12:4b and the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to delivered, to devour her child as soon as it was born.

Liverpool FC in recent years have been known to play a brand of football characterised by ‘swarming’ opposition in the opening stages of a game and so push for an early goal. This often results in the destabilisation of opposition and any game plan that was in effect. So their tactic: ‘Don’t let your opponents get into their groove nor establish any root, hit them early and you gain an advantage’.

That is football, but the enemy also plays along similar lines. In the text for today, there was a dragon waiting to devour a child as soon as it was born. There was no room to stay around waiting for the child to grow up and take up his destined position. Just like the seeds that fell along the path in the parable of the sower, the birds did not allow them any time to establish roots and sprout, because then they will have the opportunity to bear fruit.

Beloved, we may often ignore this, but there is always a battle on our hands. Some fights, we are aware of and involved in, but there are many more that are fought for us without our knowledge- God caught up this child before the enemy could do anything. If only we had knowledge of all the things that occur behind the scenes, and the battles underway to make sure that our seeds never spring up, and we never settle and grow to become all that God intends for us, we would be amazed.

Nonetheless, even though there is an adversary prowling around like a lion seeking for whom to devour, we also have on our side, the actual Lion of the tribe of Judah who jealously guards his own. So, let them assemble and gather from all the corners of the earth, let them plot and scheme against us, it shall all come to nought because God is with us and in his pavilion will He hide us.

Remember # we may be sought, but hidden in God, we can’t be touched
