Reference Text: Romans 6:3-4,8-11
Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
For the many who are not big fans of technology and the computer as a whole, an episode where this machine does not respond to any commands such as mouse clicks, scrolls or keyboard inputs can be the most frustrating moment. This amount of frustration is the near equivalent of what will be on the face of our old nature we also become unresponsive to sin, and instead become alive to God, alert to him, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
This unresponsiveness however is not something that may happen in one single moment, but only after the realisation of a particular truth; the fact that one must be able to personally ‘CONSIDER’ themselves as dead to sin and alive to God. Until that switch is flicked on, the ability to continually dissociate from sin will become a difficult process to sustain in the long-term.
As the message renders the text above, from now on think of it this way: “Sin speaks a dead language that means nothing to you; God speaks your mother tongue, and you hang on every word.” When you receive instructions in two different languages: one that appears gibberish and the other in your mother tongue, you ought to respond to the one that makes meaning to you- that is exactly what dying to sin and being alive to God represents.
This is also our calling believers, to live in freedom as sons and daughters of our father. We are invited to enjoy freedom from the burden of sin and embrace the newness and abundance of life that is available in Christ Jesus. We have become new creation, washed in the blood of the lamb hence that should be the renewed consciousness we move on with.
Remember # Sin has already lost its dominion over us- we only have to wake up to that reality.
