DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE?

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light;

You can make a sound argument to the effect that movie directors and actors prey on the emotional availability of their target audience to get desired effects. Particular combinations of actions, dialogues and music are able to hit the emotional chords of people and get them to react by laughing, smiling, shedding a few tears or even show disdain.

Personally, whenever I read the text of today, a broad smile automatically appears on my face.I cannot exactly put my finger on what I feel anytime I even see the text, but the closest I can compare it with is a sense of rediscovery. It sounds as if after reading this every time, God asks me the very same question Philip asked the Eunuch in his chariot ‘Do you understand what you have just read’(Acts 8:30)

Many times, a person’s discovery of their true identity is all that is needed to set them back on track towards achieving greatness hence the popular question‘ do you know who are?’ The first answer I will offer to this question is my name but I am much more than that and so are you. We have settled for so much mediocrity that our value seems to have depreciated overtime but God wants to remind us of our actual identities so we can rediscover our true worth.

The words in the verse: CHOSEN, ROYALTY and PECULIARITY fill me with a great sense of pride and further affirms my identity as written by my father in Heaven. For me, that is enough: a written statement explicitly reminding me of who I am just in case I forget.

Remember # There is more to you than meets the ordinary eye. Just find out what your father in heaven says about you.
