I read the account of Elijah and the widow earlier today, and the link to today’s text was made even clearer – that there are pointers that should cause others to see God at work through an individual. You can try to fake this, but surely not long enough.
For many of us, this may come in one captured moment, or it may reflect a continual exhibition that truly highlights to others that we have been with God, and He is with us.
For Elijah, it was evident when the widow’s son was raised from the dead:
“Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now by this I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is the truth.”(I Kings 17:24)Â
For Jesus, Nicodemus confirmed it through the multitude of signs:
“Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”(John 3:2)
And with the Apostles, it was shown in their boldness: “Now seeing the boldness of Peter and of John, and having understood that they are unschooled and ordinary men, they were astonished. And they recognized them, that they had been with Jesus” (Acts 4:13)
Now it’s your turn – what represents the irrefutable evidence in your life that you have come to know God?
Your display of intellect and wisdom? Your artistry?
Your excellent spirit, diligence, hardwork?
Your love?
There are many valid indices that act as verification or confirmation systems in a life lived with, and for God. Allow these to be manifested in your vessel.
