A PICTURE OF THE END FROM THE START

Genesis 17:5 No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations.

In this discourse with Abraham, God was communicating with Abraham in two different tenses. In one way, he was speaking to him as though he had already become the father of nations, and in another moment, as though God  was delivering walk through in a video game.

What God often does is to give a glimpse of the end destination from the very start of the journey and often, the goal of that image is to provide a reference point for one’s journey. It’s almost as if God knows that it will get difficult and many will be discouraged along the way. Andv that also he presents the end as a way to give us hope.

Before going down to prison and ending up in prison, Joseph was given the image of the sun, moon and twelve starts bowing to him. So even though he could have been discouraged, that final picture was given to him to serve as a remind him.

That is what God has done. Yours is to identify what guarantees he has given you, and strive towards that image you have been given. That is one way to encourage yourself when life gets tough.
