John 8:10-11 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
“No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
Sometimes, the opinions, judgements and verdicts of others can push anyone into a state of silence where they begin to accept an outcome as definite. Almost like a lamb led to the the slaughter – you have no response and lose the strength to fight back because in many ways, everything they say might be factually accurate.
Factually, perhaps, but as far as eternal outcomes go, who says a thing and it comes to pass when the Lord has not commanded it? (Lamentations 3:37)
- Who delivers a guilty verdict when God says not guilty?
- Who condemns when God says I have redeemed?
- Who casts down when God says I have lifted up?
The only only words we hear from the woman presented to Jesus was “Sir, No one”. That was her agreeing with Jesus ‘that no one remained to cast a stone, and rightly so because indeed no one has been given a finite say over the affairs of your life when God has not given consent.
Don’t be convinced otherwise because no one has a bigger interest or say in the outcome of your destiny than God does. Don’t allow anyone else convince you into believing anything else.
