“IN THE DAY OF SALVATION”

Isaiah 49:8a Thus says the LORD, “In a favorable time I have answered You, And in a day of salvation I have helped You;

After reading the opening statement to today’s text, I stopped. This came to mind: nswers and help cannot operate on a random clock because if that is the case, in spite of a multitude of answers and help at your disposal, you life will be no different to that of a man who has neither answers nor help. Here is the situation: answers and help can arrive at three periods: in time, on time or after time.

In other words, what you need can come your way before you need it, just when you need it or when the need passes. Receive things too early and while that may seem like a blessing, you could end up wasting them on a whim oblivious of the need for which it was intended. On the flip side, receive it too late and you would have been battered and bruised by a need that came rushing through your gates unaware.

‘A time of favour and a day of salvation’ therefore refer to those periods when things happen ‘on time’- exactly when they are intended, to achieve the maximum impact. David prayed a prayer in Psalm 69:13 which we can make our own ” But I pray to you, Lord, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation.

I pray for you today – that your answers and help arrive ” on time” – not before and surely, not after.
