A RESTING PLACE  FOR YOUR FAITH

John 4:42 NKJV Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.”

There is often a portal of entry into God, and that is often the testimony or stories of others. This is because stories are often crafted and told in a manner that invite people in. However, the excitement from stories is short lived because it dissipates once the story ends.

Hence, the statement from the citizens of Sychar is very profound. They were clear to say to the woman who brought back stories about her encounter with Jesus: they said  “we agree, your story introduced us to the man. However, our believing now is not because of what you said, but because we have heard him ourselves”.

Beloved, any one who is stays in “the realm of the stories of others” very likely will have no firm foundation or solid ground on which to anchor. You have to launch deeper yourself to establish a trail that gives ground to your believing in Jesus. Simply, you need to find a personal resting place for your faith, a place beyond stories  where you can anchor your convictions.
