It’s Ash Wednesday today, and the words that characterize today is found in Genesis 3:19b “for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
It may seem sufficient then to be reminded of who you are, your origin and your end destination. Yet, as I reflected on those words, they seemed to hint at an even deeper point for contemplation. So here goes “Remember that you from dust, and to dust you shall return. But before your return, what would you have done?”
The real question to ponder on is what you do in, and with time.
On this earth, you really don’t have eternity to do all the good you may want or plan to. So putting them off until you feel ready could be you missing out entirely on the timing to do so. How unfortunate that would be. You literally don’t have enough time to love, so why do you spend the little time you have angry, offended, disappointed, and worried?
We are all dust – time bound and vulnerable – the least we can do is make good impact in time. Our world already has so much going against it, don’t add to it.
