1 Kings 10:1 When the queen of Sheba heard about the fame of Solomon and his relationship to the LORD, she came to test Solomon with hard questions.
There are two ways to perceive anything or person: the first is on the basis of what you have been told about them. In this, depending on the accuracy of the one testifying, you can form a picture of what is described. Whether that image is positive or not, is a question for another day.
The second way is to find out for yourself, what is described as a first hand experience. After meeting Solomon, the queen of Sheba concluded in this manner ‘I had only heard about you, but meeting you in person, I am convinced that much of this was kept from me. You SURPASS all I thought”.
Then to the crux of today’s lesson:
Although the Queen of Sheba brought many gifts, nothing was given until she had tested King Solomon with hard questions. And we know that he passed with flying colours in that we read “Solomon had answers for all her questions; nothing was too hard for the king to explain to her (vs 3)”
No one should be able to represent you much better than you present yourself. And this is not so you can boast, but to prove that you are worth your weight in gold when it comes to your areas of mastery and expertise. The reason is simple, Kings come with rewards, but their “rewards do not precede proving, they are given after”.
