YOU HAVE TO PUT ON A DISPLAY

1 Kings 2:1-2 Now the days of David drew near that he should die, and he charged Solomon his son, saying: “I go the way of all the earth; be strong, therefore, and prove yourself a man.

King David’s first charge to Solomon as he bowed out was “Be strong, prove yourself a man”. In other words, “show what you’re made of”. That word “SHOW” is the highlight of the passage.

Many adopt a posture of ‘quiet and timid’, meant to depict humility, as far as showing off their God-given gifts, their expertise, their livelihood and the areas in which they have gained mastery. What should therefore become a platform where kings see the brightness of their rising only concludes as a missed opportunity.

There is a difference between “showing off” just for the sake of it and “putting on display”. You have to be unapologetically bold when you stand on appropriate platforms that afford you the opportunity to show what your made of. Whether it is to deliver a speech, sit an exam, sell a product, or to execute your day to day responsibilities – you have to do it with such finesse that your audience can’t help but wonder ‘how far you have come’.

The only way you are rewarded for what you have is to present it to an audience that acknowledges its worth. That does not happen if you keep hiding.
