1 Samuel 18:8 Saul was very angry; this refrain displeased him greatly. “They have credited David with tens of thousands,” he thought, “but me with only thousands. What more can he get but the kingdom?”
The playbook for Kings in authority over the course of many years has been “is there a threat to my throne? Then eliminate that threat!” That was the approach back in the days of Pharoah when Moses was born, replicated in the reign of Saul when the women sang in praise of David, and also manifested at the Birth of Jesus when the wise men visited Herod.
Whether that place is attained by election or by birthrite, there is a mindset of a king must have: and that is an assurance of his place on their throne. Whenever insecurities about the throne creeps into the heart of any king, the response that follows is a trail of actions characterized by erratic, disproportionate and often violent responses. Eventually, those thrones are lost regardless.
Do you know that you are royalty? Do you know that you are seated with Christ in heavenly places? That does not mean that there will be no threats to your throne. You can however not feel threatened because the throne you are sat on is vested with authority from far above. Don’t jump into rushed actions in response to threats, turn to the one who placed you on the throne.
