INSIDE INFORMATION

Matthew  2:13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

Information is an important commodity in the business of life. Whether in a practical or spiritual sense, the more information available at one’s disposal, the more advantaged they become. Joseph was man of such advantage with four angelic visitations guiding the major decisions he made as far as taking of Jesus and Mary were concerned .

The instructions in today’s Gospel was ‘rise, take both child and mother and flee to Egypt because Herod is about to search for the child to destroy him. Since this hadn’t happened yet, it was inside information that saved the life of the infant Jesus. This example forms part of the’ leading ministry’ of the Holy Spirit.

Whether it comes in the form a verbal command or a deep impression, the Holy Spirit provides us with warning signals when danger and error are close. These signals may be subtle, and require heightened spiritual sensitivity to pick. But oh, how important they are. Sometimes, it’s a word:  stop, wait, turn, knock, slow down, keep quiet. However subtle, it can be the difference between escape and loss, between access and disappointment, sometimes even between life and death.

Incline your ear therefore, to the movement of the Spirit.
