CONTENTIONS TO REVEAL GOD’S GLORY

Acts 6:10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

At the start of this year, one message that was an anchor was “this will be a year of great things but with many contentions”. This was based on the text from the Acts of the Apostles where Stephen’s exploits begun to draw contentions and disputes from the synagogue of the freedmen. Reading the text today was, therefore, a full circle moment.

From the text, we notice that Stephen’s disputors did not stand a chance as he possessed a superior wisdom. This is like the assurance Jeremiah received during his induction into ministry ” And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee (Jeremiah  1:19).

Contentions should not be seen purely as  resistances, some are meant to be platforms to manifest the God in you. Sometimes, it will take a firm shaking to reveal what you carry. What may seem like a blockade could therefore, be God’s way of employing every opportunity with the intention of revealing his glory at work in you.
