Bus drivers are often known for not stopping the bus for new passengers the moment they indicate and drive off from a bus stop. Knowing this, as I crossed the traffic lights today to such a situation, I was resolved to having to wait for the next bus. But I kept an eye on the driver who was waiting at the traffic light. Then came a nod which I reciprocated and voila, the doors were flung open.
What were my lessons –
1. Keep your eyes on the giver
Fixing your gaze on the giver of a prize is one way for them to know you are ready to receive. That includes receiving both from God and men.
2. Update your knowledge
Some knowledge can become limitations and not add-ons. As Alvin Toffler wrote “The illiterate of the 21st century is not the one who cannot read and write, it is those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn”. I knew busses don’t normally stop once they drive off from their stop. However, this encounter has upgraded my thinking to include this as a real possibility.
3. There is a grace called favour
There are times when in the natural, you do not meet all the set criteria for an opportunity yet somehow, God places men and systems to aid your advance. Protocols are broken for your sake. It is not magic, but an advantage God gives to provide ease. I pray you also become a recipient of this grace.
