WHERE DOES WIND COME FROM?

In building defenses, it is easier to defend against what your eyes can see. So rains and subsequent floods are visible. However, the wind presents an entirely different prospect. In John 3:8, while describing those born of the Spirit, Jesus used the imagery of the wind: “The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.”

Physics attempts to describe “wind” but I found myself laughing even thinking about the question” where does the wind start from? “Sometimes, such is life. Events can creep up on you like the wind: you can only hear it’s sound and feel it’s effect, but you cannot trap the wind because you don’t even know where it originated from.

David makes a confession in Psalm 18:2 saying” The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
Ultimately, we come to realise that the effects of the winds did not matter if the house was built on the rock. Perhaps then, our message today is not to begin a pursuit into the source of the winds in our life, but to begin building on a foundation that remains standing despite the rains, floods and storms. That is the goal.
