WHAT HAVE THEY HEARD ABOUT YOU?

Daniel 5:14 I have heard that the spirit of the gods is in you and that you have insight, intelligence and outstanding wisdom.

There are times when men with malicious intent send words ahead of us, and that paints us in a shade that is limiting. In that case, we have every reason to bring such voices under subjection. As we read in Isaiah 54:17 “no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and their vindication from me, declares the LORD.”

However, what others have heard about us because of the words others have spoken about us really matters. Twice king Belshazzar said ‘I have heard’ and what followed were accolades of Daniel. Men celebrate you because of the virtue of your quality and value. Be careful then of how you present yourself to others, especially when their testimonies or commendations have the potential to get you an appearance before kings.

Interestingly, what granted Daniel access to King Belshazzar, and Joseph access to Pharoah, were their gifts. It was what these kings heard about them that granted them audience. Their gifts had been displayed, albeit in small quarters to an extent that others had seen its efficacy. The Butler recommended Joseph and the queen recommended Daniel. Those words “I have heard of you’ is only spoken when a testimony has gone ahead of you.

In your prayers, remember to pray for those people whose voice or testimonies can open doors to kings for you. Pray that their words will cause those kings who hear about you to request an audience with you. As you pray, also continue to sharpen you gift, because it is “a man’s gifts that opens doors and brings him before great men.
