JUST A FEW MOMENTS LONGER

On my way in to work, I got on a bus that did not seem to have a time to set off. It kept waiting, and in fact, I managed to board because it was waiting. However, after a few minutes on board, the passenger notification for the doors to open went off. The doors opened and a young passenger, frustrated with the wait, stepped off. Once the door closed behind them, the bus set off.

They would have to wait for another bus in the cold, having just missed the opportunity because they cut their waiting short by a moment. We are called to imitate those who through ‘faith and patience, inherited the promises'(Heb 6:12). There is a waiting phase for many things – childbirth, seed growth, mental transformation, mastery and expertise- no matter how quickly you want the child, unless labour happens closest to full term, you run the risk of aborting what you carry.

Sadly, that is how many have aborted destiny plans and frustrated even their destiny helpers- through their impatience. Their failure to allow for growth in themselves and others, the closure of their minds to mental transformation and the pride that follows an arrival mentality. Whenever you can’t wait for what is promised, it will always end up costing you more, and you may eventually end up missing out.

We could all do with a few more moments of patience.
