MISSED SEASONS ARE EXPENSIVE

Luke 19:42 If you had only known today what could have brought you peace! But now it is hidden from your sight,

Jesus speaks about an opportunity that was available to know the things that was made for their peace. However, given that they missed the window when it was to be caught, ‘NOW’ which represents another time point or season, those same things were hidden from their eyes.

There was another illustration: ‘because they didn’t know the time of their visitation, they ended up looted and grazed to the ground by their enemies(19 vs 44)

There are moments when you will not recognise certain opportunities because your eyes will be focused on many other things. In the age of career building, family might not be a priority so opportunities can be missed. Likewise, in an era of building spiritual capital, one can ignore opportunities to build relational and financial capital. The tradeoffs are endless.

The NLT rendition uses the words “and now it’s too late (19:41b), rightly so because missed seasons often come with very hefty costs. In some cases, one neverĀ  gets another shot at the same opportunity, unless the mercy of God reroutes that individual’s path. If I were you, beyond asking for grace to see which opportunities are available in any season, I would pray the prayer of mercy because mercy is the only thing that can make up for all your mess.
