Luke 18:5 yet because this widow keeps pestering me, I will give her justice. Otherwise, she will wear me out with her perpetual requests.
There are people we call ‘gatekeepers’- these are men and women of influence and authority who are often at the helm of systems and establishments. Such people can often not be prayed away, if for anything, they have to somehow be in your camp for certain outcomes to manifest. The judge in today’s Gospel was one of such men.
How then do you get the attention of a man who self acknowledges that “I do not fear God and neither do I respect men?” There is a very thin line between persistence that is often rewarded, and disruption that often merits punishment.
There are some walls that only come down with ‘continual coming’. There are those who never try again after the first rejection. However, there are dimensions of results that only the persistent will ever come into. Those domains require some ruggedness, people who will ignore push backs, and see rejection as reposition. It will require men who are able to shake the dust off and go again. Those are the ones who are rewarded for their continual coming.
