Luke 17:27 They were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
There are two main groups of people: those who react and those who pro-act. The former group finds themselves in trouble when things sneak up on them. They are so caught up in other affairs that when a major incident happens, they are caught napping.
The proactive on the other hand think they have an advantage with foresight until they encounter a force stronger than they prepared for. That is when all their prep comes crashing down like a pack of cards.
Until you face a desperate situation, you might think you are immune to disloyalty and compromise.
Until life throws firm jabs and blows at you, you might think you have a strong jaw.
Until the floods come, everyone thinks they have an anchor and their foundation is firm.
Make no mistake, the floods arrive at different seasons for everybody, but they will come. It is, therefore, unwise to be in hysterics when you notice you neighbour’s beard of fire. It might be your cue to get water at hand. Regardless, it is really not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.
Even amidst the floods, when you are planted in Christ, you will remain firm. That is the only way your anchor holds in the storms of life.
