DESIRE REQUIRES POWER TO MANIFEST

DESIRE is that internal act, a strong feeling of want which, by influencing the will, makes us proceed to action. In itself therefore, desire is passive with no external effect. It is however a fuel for further activity. POWER on the other hand is the ability to produce an effect. Hence, power always tends to have an external manifestation.

We may wonder why these definitions matter, but today’s text gives us a context. St Paul was rather unapologetic when it came to his self-awareness. He had looked within and echoed the same conclusion Jesus arrived at in John 6:63 ” It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing.” Paul rendered it in these words ” For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out (Romans 7:18).

Desire without power is thus comparable to fuel without an ignition – it cannot cause motion. Therefore, whatever you desire will remain abstract unless there is sufficient power to cause manifestation. I want and I wish are exactly that, “wishes”, it is power that births manifestation. That power is comes in many forms: supernaturally, in the form of material resources such as relationships or financial resources.

Again, desire without power is comparable to fuel without an ignition – it cannot cause motion.
