There is a list for nearly everything including the best and worst: the best in class, worst performing vehicles, happiest cities to live in, richest people in the world, best holiday destinations etc. In fact, the list is endless. In every case, this value has been estimated using specific metrics. For those dubbed as “the best”, strategies are often put in place to maintain this standing.
There are thus two sets of people you will encounter in this life whenever value is highlighted: those who have no idea of the worth of what they possess, and those who do. The actions of those in the first group is predictable, because they have no understanding of value, they live as they please. In the latter, group which the Gospel throws a spot light on today, there are those who protect what they have from being stolen and those who stand by and watch.
Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would not permit his house to be broken into(Luke 12:39)
It is therefore wickedness to know the true value of anything, yet choose not to protect it.
That includes the value of the peace in your home, your gifts and talents, the people in your life, your career, your physical body etc. all the things you have been given that make up ‘your house.’ Fore knowing is intended to furnish you with the capacity to shore up defences, call for help and in some cases, launch preemptive strikes. That is how you gain advantage. Else, you will lose many valuable things because the thief does not give notice when coming.
