THERE IS LOVE, MERCY AND JUDGMENT IN GOD

Romans 2:4 Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

Men often choose to relate with what gives them the most advantage. They develop what you could refer to as ‘selective engagement’. However, the story in our relationship with God revolves around acknowledging that there are different dimensions in Him.

There is the love of God and the mercy of God. Those are the dimensions of God that draw us to Him because they are appealing. His love embracing us and His mercy saying No, Mercy prevails over judgement. This is where many of us stop.

We almost forget that another dimension in God is His wrath and judgement. We therefore tend to live lasciviously and without boundaries, convinced that we are swimming in the pool of love and mercy. St  Paul puts it this way “there is the riches of His kindness, forbearance and patience, with the intent to lead us to repentance”.

Awareness of the ‘not so nice’ dimensions in God is not to throw a blanket of fear over you, but rather one to remind us to live conscious of the reality that we are  people who have been purchased with a precious price. A reminder to live lives that glorify God.
