ON YOUR MARKS, SET, GO!

Luke 9:51 As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.

It was as though Jesus’ inner alarm had heard the final part of the sequence: ‘ON YOUR MARKS, SET, GO!’ because as we read ‘Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem’ (Luke 9:51b).

To the watching spectators, those words mark the culmination of anticipation and excitement,
To the athlete, the same words call for focus and endurance,
To a coach, that means it’s time to see if their methods have worked,
To the time keeper, it means ensuring that all is in place to accurately record arrival at the intended final destination.

Those words therefore signify the duration between preparation and the final destination. To the one who is unprepared, those words will birth apprehension and fear, but to the prepared, it will instead inspire focus because ‘go’ means start moving towards the known destination.

Don’t start running without knowing the end destination because to the who has no set destination, everywhere will look like a great place to stop.
