Observers might look at a person’s life and say “they got lucky”. Yet, it would surprise us to know that life is not always a game of chance and probability. There is a ‘how’ to obtaining from life the results desired. You may know what to do, but there is a how to do it if you seek to receive fruits out of your endeavors. Nothing is received just like that, there is a technology and a process that ensures that results are produced.
St Paul today describes one of such when he said ‘And we continually thank God because, when you received the word of God that you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it truly is, the word of God, which is also now at work in you who believe.'(1 Thess 2:13).
Thus, even the word of God can be received as something else, and made of non-effect. Jesus left us with the words “Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward.(Mt 10:41) ” Receiving is thus done with a specific mindset and a posture of heart.
You can only truly receive a thing or person when you acknowledge its source, nature and purpose, else you gets nothing.
