COUNTDOWN – TICK-TOCK

Psalm 90:12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom

Another rendition of this verse which speaks volumes is “Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.”

If there is on thing my line of work has thought me, it is the value of life. I have come to realise that indeed we fight and worry about many things as Jesus said on his visit to the home of Mary and Martha” you worry and are anxious about many things when only one thing matters”.

Every now and again, we get into life’s fast line, soldering forward without turning. We enter a race against ourselves, and against others. We pursue resources, results and revenue, dedicating all our time often to things that neither matter nor carry any weight in destiny.

If at this moment, we had the opportunity to know how much time we had, what would we stop doing and what would we being to pursue? As radical as that sounds, the Psalm today throws us that challenge. Unless and until we come to realise that we are working “in time and with time”, we won’t really live our very best. But believe it or not, the clock is ticking – ‘tick-tock’.
