Matthew 13:44 The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field
We read about comparisons Jesus makes with the Kingdom of heaven, one as a treasure hidden in a field and the other as a pearl. In both cases, those who discovered them went away, sold all they had and bought the field and pearl respectively.
However, what I found fascinating was the prices of the field and pearl. We are not given insight into their actual costs, and neither are we informed of the wealth of those who found them. But by some strange arrangement, the sale of “all they had” could purchase the treasures they found.
If indeed then we all have found God, and are determined to come under his government, all that we have must be submitted. There is no upper limit of what this entails, but rather an individualized assessment that results in the sum “all I have”. Not as material resources, but as mentioned in the Gospel of Mark “All your heart, soul, mind, and strength”.
That is the message today: “
the price for all of God, will be all of you”.
