A key part of non-verbal communication is body language, eye contact, facial expressions, hand movements etc. These are the rudiments that suggest, at least on the outside, that: “my listeners are present and I am not wasting time”. Often therefore, before one starts talking to an individual, you have to gauge through some means that they are tuned to your frequency.
Notice the timing of when God begun to speak to Moses out from the bush: “And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see” (Exodus 3:4a). Recall the story of young Samuel? God kept on calling his name until he was certain he had the lads attention, confirmed through the very popular words “speak Lord, for your servant is listening”
Even men do not speak amiss, how much more the Emperor of the universe? God is King, so before He makes any decrees, He ensures that you are tuned in-that you have turned towards him and that He has your full attention . This should not be only out of reverence, but because of the implications of inattention.
Beloved, pay attention, else you might miss a kairos moment, a season of breakthrough, an opportunity to advance, or even a way out of trouble.
We might say Moses was only curious about the burning bush, however that curiosity caused him to turn aside to see. God rewards pursuit and a gaze fixed on him because He is the author and finisher of our faith. Don’t miss out on seasons because of your inattention, it may cost you a lot more.
